GALLERY of ANCIENT DICE

Cubic Dice with TEXT

Below an extremely rare (possibly unique) large stone die from the period of the famous 13th roman legion.

The die was possibly used for auspices.

On the four slightly rectangular faces (about 39x32 mm) are the markings "LEG", "XIII", "TRI", "DOM (or maybe ROM)".
LEG=legion
XIII=13th
TRI=Three?
DOM=Deo optimo maximo: Latin phrase which means "to the greatest and best god", or "to God, most good, most great"
(ROM=Rome)

The two square faces (about 38x39 mm) show pictures of possibly an altar and a bird or horse, but this is not very clear.
